Pharmacy and stock
NextHealth CareAn add-on for any Care product that does not already include it
Pharmacy stock drifts when dispensing, purchasing and counting live in different places. NextHealth Care ties every dispensed item to the doctor's prescription and to the batch taken from the shelf. Batches and expiry dates are tracked with near-expiry alerts, stock moves between branches with both sides recorded, physical counts record a reason for every difference, and the controlled drugs register updates itself with each movement, so the books always match what is held.
What it covers
- Outpatient dispensing and inpatient ward stock
- Batch, expiry and lot tracking with near-expiry alerts
- Narcotic and controlled register per regulator requirements
- Stock transfer between facilities, physical count, adjustment with reason
- Purchase, receipt, supplier and reorder levels
- Substitution and generic equivalence rules
The controlled drugs register has to be exactly right
Pharmacy management that keeps stock and records true
An inspector arrives unannounced and asks for the controlled drugs register. The pharmacist prints it in the expected format, and every receipt, dispense and return is already there, matched to prescriptions and staff. The inspection takes minutes, not a day of reconciling paper.
Dispensing against the electronic prescription removes transcription errors: the medicine, strength and quantity come from the doctor's order, and substitution rules guide the pharmacist when a brand is unavailable and substitution is allowed.
Near-expiry alerts help teams use or return stock before it is written off, reorder levels show what to buy next, and transfers between branches let a group move stock to where it is needed instead of buying more. Every adjustment carries a reason, so stock value and usage figures stand up to finance and audit scrutiny. Pharmacists work from one screen for dispensing, stock and the register, so there is far less to learn and far less to reconcile.
How pharmacy management works in NextHealth Care
Pharmacy management software records dispensing and medicine stock. In NextHealth Care, the pharmacy works directly from electronic prescriptions and tracks stock by batch and expiry across every facility in a group.
Receive stock. Deliveries are received against purchase orders with batch and expiry details.
Dispense. Medicines are dispensed against the electronic prescription, with substitution rules where allowed.
Supply and transfer. Ward stock is supplied and stock is transferred between facilities, recorded on both sides.
Keep the register. Controlled medicines are recorded in the register with every receipt, dispense and return.
Count and reorder. Physical counts record a reason for each adjustment, and near-expiry and reorder alerts guide purchasing.
